Western Power has been engaging the local Neerabup community and other key stakeholders to ensure that they have opportunities to provide input into the project.
A project Stakeholder Reference Group (SRG) was established with the assistance of a professional facilitator from Estill & Associates Pty Ltd and the group made significant contributions towards identifying a preferred solution. The purpose of the SRG was to provide a stakeholder forum to share information and resolve issues relating to the project.

SRG meetings are held to resolve issues and inform key stakeholders about the Western Power Neerabup terminal substation project.
On the request of the SRG, Western Power investigated the site inside the pine plantation and the site was moved 40 metres east of Ziatas Road. This meant that there was a tree buffer provided between properties and the substation, minimising visual impacts.
In addition, the route of the new 330 kV transmission line that is required to connect the terminal substation to the network, was relocated to reduce its visual impact on the surrounding property owners.
The SRG also recommended that Western Power engage a landscape architect to design the landscaping and visual screening for the site. In a meeting, they made further suggestions to Western Power about their landscaping preferences, including the use of native vegetation.
Members of the SRG included surrounding landowners, the City of Wanneroo, Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), Department of Water, Department of Environment and Conservation, Local Member Dianne Guise, Forest Products Commission, local residents associations, and other various government departments as required.
Western Power will continue to work with surrounding landowners throughout construction to ensure that residents are kept well informed of project progress.
Western Power would like to extend their thanks to the SRG members for their commitment and time.
