Consultation

Western Power has been consulting with landowners affected by the 10km line and new substation since April 2008.

The most recent consultation session was held at Binningup on Thursday 5 February.

Western Power has met with land owners and key stakeholders to hear their concerns and provide advice about the project.

Environment

Western Power has appointed a fauna expert to provide advice on how to minimise the impact on local wildlife, particularly birds.

The proposed line route and the substation has undergone extensive flora and fauna surveys to minimise the impact of the project on the species endemic to the area.

Line route

The new line will run 10km north-west from the current Kemerton terminal substation to a new substation to be constructed at Binningup within the Water Corporation's new desalination plant.

Western Power will finalise the line route once environmental impact studies are complete and community concerns have been addressed.

The new 132kV single circuit transmission line will be constructed using steel poles.
