Western Power is improving the reliability and security of power supplies to customers in the Goldfields area.
A second 132 kV line is being constructed between the West Kalgoorlie substation and the Black flag substation to improve the security and reliability of power supplies in the area.
The line will run for a distance of over 40 kilometres the majority of which will be on a separate route from the existing line. The separate routes will further increase the reliablity of supply to Black Flag substation by reducing the potential from an external factor such as a bushfire destroying both lines.
Western Power is taking measures to reduce the environmental impact of the line by positioning pole locations away from wetlands.
