Planning for the future

Transmission linesThe future power needs of Perth's south-eastern corridor have been addressed by constructing a new high voltage transmission line from Bibra Lake to Cannington.

The Cannington Terminal Substation, in Grose Avenue, Cannington, is the bulk supply point for the electricity needs of a vast region that includes south-eastern parts of the metropolitan area and major country areas as far east as Merredin and Corrigin.

It is one of Western Power's most important sites and an integral part of the South West Interconnected System.

The work was in response to the escalating demand for electricity in this area.
A new transformer station required to accommodate the higher capacity line has been constructed at Kenwick Link.
