In 2008, Western Power expanded this successful program by planting a further 150,000 native seedlings to offset 40,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from its fleet vehicles, mobile generating facilities and two percent of its annual line losses.
In 2007, Western Power partnered with Men of the Trees successfully to plant 93,000 native seedlings to offset the carbon emissions produced by its fleet vehicles and mobile generating facilities.
The native seedlings planted by our corporate volunteers will absorb carbon emissions while also addressing issues relating to salinity and land degradation.
In addition, the program now enables Western Power employees to calculate their personal carbon emissions online, and then choose to offset all or part of their total emissions through payroll deductions.
