Small scale renewable energy systems

Small Scale Renewable Energy Systems

As an energy solutions business, Western Power actively supports the connection of small scale renewable energy systems to our network.

As part of our commitment to encouraging sustainable energy use, we have recently implemented a new process that makes the connection simpler and more cost effective by:

  • waiving the $107 application fee that previously applied
  • no longer requiring compulsory CPEng-NPER registered engineer approval, but requiring inverter test certificates.
  • committing to a 10 day approval period from the time we receive a complete application

Climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions play an increasingly important role in the management of a building's energy use. With energy efficiency high on the list of achievable improvements, the inclusion of a renewable energy system can help transform a building from an energy consumer to an energy generator.

Inverter connected small scale renewable energy systems may include, but are not limited to, the following systems:

  • Photovoltaic systems
  • Wind systems
  • Micro hydro systems
