Western Power's equipment is categorised as either transmission or distribution (PDF 149kb).
Western Power is often asked to move equipment such as poles, transformers, pillars and overhead lines. These requests are usually made to accommodate improvements such as a new driveway or front wall.
In most cases this is possible. The person who makes the request generally pays for the work to be done, not Western Power.
To apply, please fill out our Relocation Application (PDF 97kb) form.
Each relocation or removal is quoted individually and prices can vary considerably depending on the situation.
If you need lines to be lifted or moved to transport a high or wide load, see oversized vehicles.
Requests for transmission equipment relocations can come to Western Power as a result of many different types of customer-initiated projects. These can include land development, road works, building construction and infrastructure projects, and projects aimed at improving the aesthetics or usability of land. The customer can be an individual, a company, a council or a government authority.
Each relocation project is quoted individually and costs vary considerably depending on the extent of the work required to achieve the customer's objectives. Transmission line relocation work is 100% customer funded i.e. all costs associated with the transmission relocation or reconfiguration work is paid for by the customer.
For more information, refer Transmission Line Relocations fact sheet (PDF 193kb).
